LET’S TURN A PARKING LOT INTO A PARK
Our Vision
New York Mets owner, Steve Cohen, and his partners have spoken to their neighbors and after dozens of town hall workshops and meeting with thousands of local residents, the two most frequently mentioned needs are jobs and green space. It’s time to turn the 50 acres of asphalt next to Citi Field green, and create something exciting in Queens that all of New York can be a part of.
IN QUEENS WE DO THINGS THE RIGHT WAY
Our Values
-
We’ve had over 200 meetings with valued community leaders, partnering in 16 Visioning Sessions hosting thousands of guests. At each event, our neighbors were invited to share their opinions and brainstorm new ideas on how best this site would serve the community.
-
In the most congested borough in New York City, creating new green space is essential. That’s why, we’ll connect Flushing Meadows Corona Park to the underutilized waterfront of Flushing Bay, add ribbons of protected bike paths, and provide new recreational athletic fields for all to play on.
-
We have the opportunity to create something special for a borough on the rise. With a spirit of inclusion that is embodied by our neighborhoods, we can be a lighthouse destination that is home to a unique campus seen nowhere else. Connecting our vibrant surrounding neighborhoods that for too long have been isolated from one another.
-
We canvassed neighboring small businesses to dream along with us. Not surprisingly, the opportunity for economic growth is something they’re excited about. When we promised an investment of over $6 billion to create 10,000 good-paying, permanent and construction union jobs, our support rate was at 94%.
-
An integrated resort with gaming and entertainment is an economic engine that will make these 50 acres of asphalt a true global destination. Whether coming to attend an event or eat and drink at world-class bars and restaurants, Metropolitan Park will be a destination not just for baseball season, but 365 days a year.
THE OPPORTUNITY
2.4 million residents of Queens County, 3 million diehard Mets fans, more than 1 million US Open visitors and NYCFC supporters, and over 22 million LaGuardia passengers are looking for more here.

THE COMMUNITY
Metropolitan Park is Our Park
We’re partnering with the local community to design a program that’s responsive to the needs of our surrounding neighborhoods. Sitting in a borough clearly on the rise, the story of this site can’t be told without the voices who are as vibrant as the city has seen in generations. Future forward in its vision, but still authentically part of the city we call home.
STEVE COHEN
Investing in the Community
“It’s time New York got the sports and entertainment park it deserves. When I bought this team, fans and the community kept saying we needed to do better. Metropolitan Park delivers on the promise of a shared space that people will not only want to come to and enjoy, but can be truly proud of.”
